Submissives Aurora and Tad mourn the loss of their beloved mistress. Two years after her death, although they have each other and the club Mistress Martine left to Aurora, it doesn’t seem to be enough. Something is missing. Enter Master Constantine Jardine.

Aurora has taken the lead since Martine’s death, a role in which she doesn’t feel comfortable. But she made a promise to her Mistress. She watches the monitors of Noir Dance, and for the last two months an attractive stranger has caught her eye. Something about him draws her, but having lost one mistress, she’s not ready to submit herself to the will of a master. Tad, on the other hand is ready to move on and urges her to introduce herself to the man they both desire.

Con Jardine has patience and is willing to wait for the perfect opportunity to introduce himself to the attractive pair at the nightclub. He made a promise to Martine, yet he’d had no idea how much he would desire to possess this beautiful couple for himself, and not strictly as a duty to a woman he’d admired. When the moment of possession finally arrives, and these three come together at last, the promise fulfilled will be nothing any of them could have ever anticipated…

Something is missing from Chaz’s life and it’s going to kill his career as an artist if he can’t resolve it. What’s missing is passion—real, honest-to-goodness passion—and emotional connection. Without it, there is no art. In desperation to find answers, Chaz takes a job at an all-night diner, hoping something, or someone, will spark that passion.
He’s not wrong, because one night, a mysterious man with a simple tattoo enters the diner. Chaz senses something different about the stranger, and becomes intrigued when the man arrives with a different date every Friday night. And what transpires in that last booth on Fridays at midnight is enough to spark anyone’s libido.

Icarus Smith, a former slave in the BDSM world, is trying to break out of a lifestyle that has become onorous and destructive. And he has taken drastic measures to accomplish this, but it’s not easy turning to affluent clients with dark needs for the only relationships he allows himself. Things, however, are about to change. … When a new employee shows up at the diner, all hell breaks loose for both Chaz and Icarus as they fight against the unrelenting grip of fate.

Two men, vastly different, and yet some spark, some need, some danger draws one to the other. Is it simply desperation, or can this be true love, the one thing that has eluded both men until now?

The Boy Next Door – EXCERPT

Side by side, heart touching heart, until the day he left without a word. After fifteen years, he’s come back to the street, to the memories of the girl he loved passionately, and the terrible secrets of the house he hated. There was only one place he’d held heaven in his arms. She had been the angel who shielded him from his living hell and the tree house their safe haven. The tree house still stood, but would her love have survived his abandonment after all these years, even if he’d had no other choice?

EXCERPT

“May I come in, Jo?”
A spasm of pain clutched at her. If she let him in she would never get rid of his presence in this house. She would always feel him, and it scared her because she had thought, for just a moment, when she considered tearing down the tree house, that she might be free of his memory once and for all.
And then he showed up at her door, as though someone, somewhere didn’t want her to forget. Why her? Didn’t she have a right to find some peace in her life? Someone to share her life with? Who wanted her as he hadn’t? Why dredge up the past? Now?
But something had her pushing the screen door open and moving back from the doorway as he stepped inside. She closed the door and led him down the hallway and into the front room.
“Please, sit down. Would you like some coffee?” Such a polite enquiry. It dropped into the uneasy years of silence between them. A dark chasm of time that had stretched year after year, always leaving her standing at the edge of an emptiness she couldn’t run fast enough to escape.
He unzipped his jacket and sat down. The dark jeans molded tightly over his muscular thighs. “Coffee would be nice.” She watched as he surveyed the room. “It’s the way I remember it.”
She nodded and swiftly left the room, hurrying into the kitchen. With one hand she clutched at her fluttery, spasming stomach as she gripped the edge of the Formica counter with the other.
His scent clung to her, the powerful male scent she remembered. It infused and permeated her skin, sinking deep inside her. The ache of longing reduced her to a mass of quivering nerves.
Taking long, deep breaths, she attempted to steady herself. She couldn’t allow him to see what his presence in this house was doing to her.
She reached under the cupboard and pulled out a tray. Luckily, she’d just made a pot of coffee. She grabbed the blue and white ceramic sugar bowl and cream pitcher setting next to the coffee pot, then pulled out a couple of spoons from a drawer. Opening the cupboard door next to the sink, she pulled down two matching cups and saucers and placed them on the tray. She had to use both hands to pour the coffee without splashing it all over the tray.
Another spasm of pain gripped her as she looked at the coffee cups. There had been a time when she’d known everything about his likes and dislikes. Tears rose to her eyes. When did he start drinking coffee? Did he use cream and sugar? Or did he drink it black? Did he have a wife or a lover who knew the mature man in the other room as she had once known the boy?
Her hands shook as she tried to pick up the tray and she had to set it back down. She looked out the window, and her focus caught the tree house in the distance.
She wanted to run as far and fast as she could. She didn’t want to be faced with the polite conversation of two strangers who no longer knew each other.
More deep breaths.
“Can I take that for you?”
If she hadn’t been leaning against the counter, she probably would have fallen to the blue tile floor when her knees gave out at the sound of the voice close behind her.
She released the tray and shifted to the side, but couldn’t get the courage up to turn to face him. Not just yet.
BoyNextDoor_sm    “Yes, thank you. You can put in on the coffee table. I’ll be right in.” Her voice didn’t hold the cool firmness she would have liked. It was husky and tight, quivering with suppressed tears. She didn’t know if she could go through with this. She should just tell him to leave.
His arm brushed against hers as he reached for the tray. She couldn’t help but glance at his hands as they gripped the curved edges. Bronzed with short dark hairs, long fingers curled to lift the tray.
Hands—she remembered his hands—remembered the taste of them. Heady need swirled inside her. The sunny late summer day they’d gone to pick wild blackberries. They’d brought the pail back to the tree house and shared the succulent berries, feeding each other as they talked about the future they planned to share.
As she straddled across his lap, she’d licked the sweet juice from each of his fingers, sucking them into her mouth, swiping her tongue across the palm. His groan of frustrated desire had filled the small room, and the heat had begun to rise as the late summer sun reached a zenith in the sky.
She’d seen the bulge in his pants, and been filled with such feminine power in the knowledge that he wanted her.
But he hadn’t taken her. He’d pulled her closer and started suckling her fingers. He hadn’t touched her pussy that day, yet she’d come hard from the erotic stroking of his tongue, from the press of his groin against hers, and her desire to consummate their love.
Their passion for each other had been so very strong back then. How had it all gone so wrong?
He walked into the living room, and she turned away from the sight of the tree house and the memories associated with it, to follow him.
She watched as he picked up one of the cups and sat back down in the chair. No cream or sugar. She tucked the memory away.
Walking around the coffee table, she sat on the edge of the couch and picked up the other cup, adding a hint of cream and a spoonful of sugar. She stirred the coffee and finally looked across at him.
“Why are you here, Reed? After all this time?”

Sully’s Heart – EXCERPT

Sexy rock star Luke Cantrell has everything going for him. He parties hard and has no shortage of bed partners. Except he can’t have the one thing he truly wants. The bad boy of Texas and the golden-haired son of an affluent rancher. Friends for life, but Luke always yearned for more than friendship. With the truth destroy their relationship or will it give them both something they passionately desire but were afraid to reveal? Will Sully understand if Luke finally tells him the truth? Or will Luke lose his friendship forever? It’s a gamble he finally has to take.

EXCERPT

“Sully Vance. It’s been a long time.”

Sully shoved the hat back on his forehead and then shifted to dismount, the sound of creaking leather loud to Luke’s ears at just that moment. The branches of the tree shifted and creaked and the hiss of a breeze shuddered across his bare skin.

He was standing here naked in front of the one man he wanted more than any other. And the one he couldn’t have, not if he wanted to keep his friendship.

SullysHeart_smLuke drank in the vision of Sully as he stepped down from his horse. The Western cut jeans cupped his tight ass perfectly. Long, muscled legs that carried him closer to Luke, wonderfully broad shoulders, and a chest that had obviously filled out nicely since the last time they’d been together.

He pushed off his hat and strode toward Luke. His thick, blond hair was just as Luke had remembered it, streaked by the sun, like a field of shimmering wheat, darkened at the moment with sweat. And his eyes, those deep blue eyes that seemed to take in everything, study it, and understand it. Calm, strong, and alert all at the same time.

He stopped right in front of Luke and looked at him intently. Luke saw things in those eyes, but it couldn’t be what he thought. It wasn’t possible.

His fingers curled into fists of impotence. He wanted to reach out to hug him close, but he didn’t dare. It would ruin the moment.

Ruin everything.

They stared at each other for a long time, almost a gap of years spanned between them as they studied and tried to learn what the time apart had done to each of them.

“Why’d you come back?” Sully wanted to know.

For you, Luke wanted to answer. Instead he shrugged. “Unfinished business, I guess.”

Sully kept staring at him intently and Luke could feel his cock beginning to tighten in response to that intensity. He was going to shame himself, he just knew it. He should just get dressed and hightail it out of there fast before something happened that shouldn’t.

“How’s your old man? I haven’t seen much of him lately, but I got the feeling he’s turned harder over the years. I’ve asked him about you when I’ve seen him in town, but he just grumbles something about you being a druggie and he didn’t talk to you. If you didn’t send the postcards now and then, I’d have worried you were dead in a ditch someplace. But according to the newspapers, you’re doing real fine. I’ve been wanting to come to see one of your concerts, but you know how it gets.”

Luke still couldn’t look away. He had to wonder what else his father had said to Sully.

He’s a fancy faggot, Vance, not someone you should be associating with. Luke wouldn’t put it past his father saying just that sort of thing.

“Yeah, I know. I’ve been wanting to come back for a visit, but, well, there just didn’t seem to be time.”

Another long silence dropped between them. Luke’s gaze dropped to Sully lips. There were so many times when he’d wanted to taste them. He felt his heart hammering against his chest. His nipples tightened as cool air wafted over them.

“I’ve missed you, Luke,” Sully said softly as he stepped closer. “I’ve missed you a lot.”

Luke held his breath. What was he trying to say? He licked his lips, nervous as hell that he was going to say the wrong thing, make a misstep.

“I-I’ve missed you, too. More than you know.” Something changed in Sully’s eyes.

And then suddenly he swooped forward, taking Luke by surprise, and planted a searing kiss on Luke’s lips. Nothing could have shocked him more. He felt Sully’s tongue press between the seam of his lips and plunge deep into his mouth. Sully wrapped his arms around Luke and tugged him close.

Luke was too shocked to respond right away, but then he lifted his arms and wrapped them around the broad shoulders of this gorgeous man and pressed himself tightly into his embrace.

Mariposa Soul – an excerpt

Andre spends his time globetrotting around the world and flitting from bed to bed, never tempted to stay in any of them.  Always searching for that soul his would recognize as the one he couldn’t live without.  A chance encounter teaches him something about himself he would never have expected.

MariposaSoulExcerpt

He turned a corner, heard the echo of a lonely siren in the distance, felt the moisture of late night rain cling to his face.

He should take that assignment his editor offered him today. It would send him far away from the temptation for a good year. Then maybe the aching need would finally dissipate and he would remember how good it felt to ease his body inside a woman’s soft caress.

Who was he trying to kid? Those days had been destroyed forever. He shoved a hand into the pocket of his coat. His fingers encountered the sharp edges of a business card and a wave of longing sliced through him. He didn’t have to pull it out to know whose card it was. He had it memorized, the name seared into his brain.

You have a butterfly’s soul, Andre, beautiful and fragile. I await the day you set it free to live the way it is meant to live. Come to me when you are ready.

He’d fought it for so long, trying to lose himself within other warm bodies, in other arms, through other lips. He’d tried so damned hard to surround himself with the scent of women, to make him forget.

But they had all paled, and were all forgotten because he could only remember one set of arms, one mouth that consumed and pulled at his soul, eyes that stroked him to life and filled the loneliness of his soul, like nothing had ever done before.

His response had scared him, yet excited him. He’d wanted to give in to the feelings, and although they’d felt right at the time, he’d shied from acknowledging what they meant about him.

He stopped walking and looked up at the street sign and sighed. Pulling deeply on the cigarette, he tossed it down and ground it with the heel of his shoe. It was as though it was inevitable his footsteps should have carried him to this particular street corner. He’d fought the feelings for so long and was tired of the struggle. The confusion inside him swirled around him, ever present no matter where he went or whom he was with.

But suddenly, as he looked up at the street sign, his hand closed over the card in his pocket. Mariposa Street. Was it a sign that he should accept the message of the soul he’d tried to forget? In Spanish, mariposa meant butterfly.

Was he finally ready to accept the nature of his needs to feel complete? He turned toward the street, saw a taxi, and hailed it. He felt the flutter of trapped wings beating inside his soul. Was he ready to fly? He knew he feared leaving the safe, familiar boundaries of his cocoon.

The taxi pulled up, he opened the door, and stepped inside.

“Where to?” the older gentleman asked him.

Again, his fingers encountered the card in his pocket, like a talisman. He didn’t need to take it out to provide the driver with the address.

“Twenty-one Morgan Street—to the Morgantown Apartments.”

The driver nodded, pulled away from the curb, and Andre settled back in the seat, his heart pounding—was it excitement or fear?

“Can I help you folks?”

“We’re looking for Ray Blackhawk. I understand he’s here. Can you tell me where we can find him?”

The cowboy’s lips tightened as he looked Laughtry up and down. Mary couldn’t see his expression because his hat shadowed the upper portion of his face. But his stance told her he was wary of the new arrivals and she had a feeling they weren’t going to get much information from him.

“Who’s asking?”

Mary could feel Laughtry tense. It was a testosterone pissing contest as the two men eyed each other. Well, shit. She stepped in front of Laughtry, hands on hips.

“Look, mister, we’ve driven a long way to see an old friend. And we’re pretty hot and tired. Let’s quit tap dancing here and just tell us if he’s here or not.”

The man tipped his hat back and turned his attention to Mary. Interesting face. Weathered and tanned, deep lines etched into his features. She couldn’t quite figure his age from this distance. His gaze slid over her body. Another woman might have been embarrassed, but Mary was used to rude men trying to put her in her place. It never had gotten them very far.

She straightened her shoulders, lifted her chin, and glared right back at him, not giving an inch. Her gaze slid over his body, hopefully with a touch of insolence in the look. Right back at you, cowboy. Not bad if she was actually in the market for his type. She stepped toward him.

“It’s okay, Johnny. I think I know them. They aren’t strangers.”

Mary whirled around at the softly spoken words. It was a voice she heard in her dreams, it hadn’t changed over the years. It was just as powerful as it had always been. Maybe more so after such a lengthy lapse of time. Deep and raspy, like tequila going down hot, blindsiding you if you weren’t paying attention.

“Ray Blackhawk.” Her focus turned on him, drinking in the effects time had rendered on the hard, lean body, the long ebony black hair, the deep sable brown of his eyes. He wore faded jeans, brown scuffed boots, and a loose-fitting cream-colored shirt. The ties crisscrossed over his chest, showing a generous amount of bronzed flesh. Skin she suddenly remembered the taste of very well. Her gaze rose higher, fastening onto his mouth. There was a slight curl to his sensuous lips as he studied the pair. The air stilled and immediately she felt the magnetic draw of his personality as though the years just melted away.

“Who’d have thought,” he said. His attention turned to Laughtry and he held out a hand. She watched as Laughtry took it in a firm grip, the men eyeing each other for long moments, and then he pulled Laughtry into a hug, fingers flexed against his broad back.

“I’ve missed you, man.” The words were raw, filled with some deep emotion.

Still hugging Laughtry, Ray turned his dark gaze on Mary and he reached out a hand. Something broke apart inside her as she accepted his hand and he drew her into the huddle of three. She gripped his back, but still managed to hang onto Laughtry as well.

Ray tilted her head and his hard lips claimed hers, tongue thrusting deep and claiming the past as though there had never been a separation of years intervening. He lifted his head and turned to Laughtry, kissing him with the same deep probe that Mary had just experienced with him.

“I’ve missed you both. I know you probably won’t believe that, but it’s true.”

He took a deep shuddering breath and then released them, stepping back to look at both of them. “I’ve a feeling there’s a story here. I can’t believe it. The two of you. Here. You can’t imagine how many times I’ve fantasized about this.”

An Excerpt from Immortal Treasure

Immortality demands a high price…

Khafeelamtek, First Vizier and Caretaker of the Secrets of the King, has been awoken one last time by the sun god, Ra, to perform an important task. His reward for successful completion will be peace in the afterlife–something he has coveted for

ImmortalTreasure_sm

millennia. But he did not count on becoming so quickly, and deeply, attracted to the lovely Dr. Cassandra Linsey, an Egyptologist and Linguist, who also happens to be the person selected by the gods as the caretaker of the secrets he must share.

Khafeel has five days in which to gain Dr. Linsey’s trust and reveal the existence of the mythical province of Niveka. Complicating things and adding a particularly irritating thorn in his side is the appearance of the beautiful, spoiled Sahrametatiri, twin sister and royal wife to the king, who has been awoken by Bast, to assure that Khafeel succeeds in his mission.

What should have been a simple chore of revealing proof of the existence of Niveka and thereby obtaining immortality for their ancient, doomed city, and achieving the long-sought peace in the afterlife for himself, has culminated in the painful realization that the most rare and precious treasure he has ever known must be abandoned…and there is nothing he could do to change their destinies. Or is there?

EXCERPT

Had his mind left his body somewhere over the last centuries? This woman attracted him like no other of his own time. Why that was, he had no idea, except that he’d been without a woman for far too long.

Khafeel reminded himself that he needed to gain her trust. That’s all this was about. To learn more about her and make her comfortable with his presence.

Could he deceive himself that way? He studied her as he handed her the glass of chilled red wine and sat next to her at the table in the darkened corner of the smoky bar. He breathed in her scent, so different from the women of his time. Their scent had been dense and musky, meant to sexually arouse, and hers was clean and simple, reminiscent of sunshine and summer wind.

She didn’t wear the heavy cosmetics that were so popular with the women of his city. Yet, the small sandy freckles that covered her face and arms were very seductive, and he was consumed by the urgent desire to taste each one.

He sipped at his wine. He knew why Zyphir had chosen her. Isadora’s hair had been the color of mulled wine, dense and lush. He was certain the red hair had drawn his attention first. But unlike Isadora, this woman’s hair, though also red, was the color of an autumn sunset, vibrant and fiery, with sparkling energy.

“What is your name?” he asked her. Even though he already knew it. It might make her wary if she thought he had prior information about her.

He caught a movement from the corner of his eye and turned his head to look up at a narrow shelf over the bar. Should he be surprised? He saw the shadow of a feline curled and watching, almond-shaped topaz eyes glittering in the half-light.

What was Sahra doing here? What did she expect to see? Didn’t she have enough to occupy her without spying on him? His gaze locked with hers, silently commanding her to disappear.

Slowly, the speckled cat uncurled, rose to its feet and stretched, then delicately leapt from the platform onto the end of the bar. As Kahfeel watched, it daintily stepped onto a barstool and then leapt to the floor, sauntering through the doorway as though she had every right to be there.

“Did you see that cat? I didn’t know they allowed animals in here.” Kahfeel turned his attention away from the cursed animal.

“I wouldn’t worry about it. It was probably a stray that wandered in through the front door. I’m sure someone will whisk it back outside.”

“Oh, I wasn’t worried, just surprised. It was actually quite a beautiful cat. I’ve never seen one before with that unusual speckled coloring.”

Sahra was unusual all right. And a pest.

Kahfeel leaned forward. “Your name, bright one?”

A blush of delightful color stole into her cheeks. “Cassie. Well, really it’s Cassandra, but everyone calls me Cassie.”

“Cassandra. It is a beautiful name, for a beautiful woman.” He tipped her head so he could look into her eyes. Bright emerald orbs glittered in the light, and reminded him of the lush ferns and palm trees of a desert oasis. “Do you know what I would like to do to you right now, Cassandra?”

She wore no lipstick, yet her bare, rosy lips tempted him to taste her. To him, she needed no enhancements—she was perfect as she was.

“N-no,” she whispered. “What do you want to do?”

This was not how it was supposed to go, but he couldn’t help himself. As he watched, her lips trembled and parted, her tongue darted out to trace a glistening path along her lower lip. It was too much to resist. He lowered his head and claimed her sweet taste, delved with his tongue into her hidden moist depths.

Ah, what sweet, passionate ambrosia.

He pulled her closer to him, felt her soft curves crushed against him as he lingered to sip leisurely at her seductive mouth, tasting succulent woman and fragrant wine.

He felt her hands inch upward along his back. His cock hardened against his leg, thickened with the desire to sink inside her moist, slippery channel. He’d never been so tempted by a woman, but this one was like no other he had known.

When they separated, the look she offered him was heavy with passion and, curse the gods, he knew he must have her.

“You have a room here, Cassandra?”

An excerpt from Jewel of Niveka

JewelofNiveka_smJewel of Niveka, now available for preorder on Amazon

Bastet plays matchmaker to Sahrametatiri as a reward for her eternal service.  But Sahra doesn’t think she’s ready for love or trust.  It isn’t the powerful Queen of Niveka Ben Solomon wants–it’s the desirable woman he made love to in one night of sizzling sexual desire.

Excerpt from Jewel of Niveka

“Wake up, Ben Solomon. Wake up.”

He heard the velvet, accented voice through a fog of dreams. Had he been asleep longer than he thought? Was it morning already?

“Who’s there?” he mumbled as he righted himself in the chair. Damn, he must have been exhausted because he’d been deep into la-la land. Then he saw the vision in front of him. “What the hell?” He rubbed his eyes, but the image didn’t fade. “This can’t be right. I must still be asleep.” The statue of Bast that had been resting on his desk now apparently stood before him, full of life.

“No, Ben, you aren’t asleep. I have come to give you a message.”

He straightened in his chair, wary of what he was seeing, knowing that he must still be asleep. There couldn’t be any other explanation.

“I am Bastet and I know you recognize me. I have come with a message. Zyphirasesammon is sending you a gift. It is the jewel of Niveka that he places into your keeping.”

“What are you talking about? What jewel?”

“This jewel is very precious to him. He has determined that you are the one man to understand its value and to treasure it as it deserves. You will understand how to handle it.” She held up a length of delicate gold chain. “To aid you, he sends this necklace which will bind the jewel to the earth. Only the person who places it on the jewel is able to remove it.” She laid the glittering necklace on the desk. “It will halt her shapeshifting abilities. Use it wisely, Ben Solomon, and care for this jewel well.”

Ben looked down at the chain and then back at Bastet. “Why me?”

“You have been chosen by the gods of Egypt. You alone can satisfy the need that lies in the heart of the jewel. You alone will make the jewel shine brightly once again.”

She began to shimmer and Ben jumped to his feet. “No. Wait. You can’t leave yet. Where is the jewel? How will I recognize it?” Was he nuts? The goddess wasn’t real. It was just a dream.

“You will know her. She is the crown jewel of Niveka who has walked through eternity alone. Her gift is love and only you can free her to shine brightly. Use this time well. Zyphir, the god-king, has spoken.”

And then she was gone. He blinked, rubbed his eyes, and then walked around the desk to where she had stood. He leaned down and picked up some sort of gritty, glittering substance. It looked like gold sand. He then walked over to the window and opened the blind to find the beginnings of a foggy morning about to emerge. He turned back to look at the desk and the chain was still there. What the hell had just happened?

Sahra sauntered into the room toward the dais where Bast waited.

“What is it this time?” she asked. “Another tomb to unearth? Who is it now?”

Bast studied her with her usual haughty I-am-Goddess look. It was one Sahra had practiced herself when she had been young, so she was untouched by its use now.

“The artifacts from your tomb will be on exhibition at the Solomon Museum in the United States. You will go there to watch over them.”

Sahra huffed. “Why me? That sounds like an extremely boring assignment. Isn’t there anyone else to handle it?”

“You are the one to accomplish this task. Only you are…intimately…familiar with the contents of the exhibition. It must remain intact. There are many who would try to steal from your past.”

“Isn’t there someone at the museum to take care of this?” A look of impatience crossed Bast’s face and her whiskers twitched. “All right, all right, I’ll handle it. When do I have to be there?”

“The exhibition will arrive in two days.”

“Well, at least that gives me some time for myself. I can get an idea of what’s available to keep me entertained.”

“Don’t get into trouble,” Bast admonished her.

Sahra opened her eyes wide and batted her long lashes. “Who? Me? I’m here to serve, aren’t I? I do what you tell me.”

Bast nodded regally. “Just accomplish the task.”

Sahra bowed and backed away. “As you wish, Goddess.” She then pivoted and, turning around, and leisurely walked out of the temple audience room.

There had to be something more to this immortality than what she had experienced over the last millennia. It had come to a point where there seemed no purpose to what she did. Of course, that one task when she’d had Khafeel to watch while he contacted Cassandra Linsey wasn’t bad. That was sort of interesting, especially when it was her own tomb that was to be discovered. Finally, these mortals would know about Niveka and its people.

There were times when she simply felt invisible. Well, actually she was for the most part. Why had she ever accepted this immortality stuff anyway?

Because she thought she might have a chance at finding out what this emotion called love was all about. But after all this time she still didn’t have a clue. Oh, she’d had her share of men, but not a one that she’d wanted to keep. There were times when she felt like the cat she shapeshifted into, always on the prowl and never satisfied. But the human side of her wanted something she wasn’t sure she was meant to find or to ever have.

Another task, another city. She truly was becoming weary of it all. Khafeel had managed to find the love of his life, why couldn’t she?

Back in high school she dated both Mason and Derrick, two best friends, and rather than making a choice between them and taking a chance on destroying their friendship–Ginnie had chosen to leave town.

Now her old Mustang has broken down in front of the garage they own and she’s going to be confronted by a choice she couldn’t make back then. She’s about to be faced with an unexpected revelation–one that could change everything and offer her a chance to snuggle into the very position where she truly yearned to be.

…He stopped on the landing and she almost bumped into his hard abdomen as he turned toward her. She found herself staring directly at his belt, and just beneath that the evidence of a very hard erection bulging against the zipper of his jeans. She remembered the feel of that thick shaft—she remembered it very well.

Only self-control stopped her from licking her lips and reaching up to feel the cock that had given her so much enjoyment in the past. He turned her on now no less than he had seven years ago, and, in fact, it seemed more so, as she had ideas of ripping his clothes off right here on the landing and asking him to fuck her.

She couldn’t do that, of course. She was a mature businesswoman, not a teenager any longer. Back then, the minute he parked the car out at Overlook Cliffs she was all over him like hot chocolate sauce on vanilla ice cream.

“I—uhhhh—can’t wait to see him,” she managed to mumble. He stepped back to allow her room to ascend to the landing beside him. Stepping up, she joined him, her body responding with all the passion of remembered teenage trysts running rampant through her mind—and her body.

They stood there staring at each other for moments that seemed to stretch on and on. “We missed you after you left for college. We thought sure you’d come back, but you never did.” He stroked the side of her face. “You’re just as pretty as you ever were. More so. The years look good on you, Gin. Real good.”

“I-I meant to come back, but things came up. You know how it is when you’re a teenager.” She was stalling, not wanting to tell him the real reason she hadn’t returned.

He lifted her left hand and stared at her bare fingers, then his gaze again rose to hers, questioning. “No rings? We thought for sure you’d be married by now.”

“No. No marriage, no engagement, no steady.” She lifted his hand and smiled. “And you?”

He grinned. “Nope, free as a bird. Mason, too. Guess we never found the right woman. Nobody who could measure up to you.”

He was silent for a long moment as he looked past her, as though seeing into the past. “We were going to come see you at the beginning of your sophomore year in college. But then we thought it might not be a good idea. You’d have come home if you’d wanted to be with us.”

Us. She knew he meant him and Mason. Oh, she’d wanted to see them all right, but they would have wanted something from her she couldn’t give them. They’d have wanted her to make a choice, and she just couldn’t do it. She hadn’t wanted to give up either of them.

Mason was Derek’s best friend, almost a brother—had been since the time they’d entered kindergarten. They were both on the football team. Derek had sable hair with lighter, caramel highlights and Mason had the summer-streaked blond. Mason looked more like he belonged on a surfboard, and Derek—well, he belonged on a windswept mountaintop. They both loved the outdoors and shared a passion for working on old cars. The last time she saw them, they were in their own sophomore year at college, and sharing an apartment. They had always been inseparable so it was no surprise when she heard they’d gone into business together. Mason’s dad had decided to retire and had sold the station to the two of them. She really shouldn’t have been surprised.
